Early Treatment

Early Treatment:

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children age 7 or older be evaluated for best treatment planning of their orthodontic needs. When there are conditions that need treatment early such as bite discrepancies (underbite, crossbite), lost space of permanent teeth, impacted tooth etc or habits like thumb sucking are present, treatment often is needed.  Normally, early treatment or phase I treatment last about a year and phase II started when patient has all permanent teeth. When a child has a significant concern about the appearance of their upper front teeth, phase I treatment is an option to address the concern without having to wait until high school for correction.
